Who are we?

We are proud to be the Crawley District World Jamboree contingent members. After a challenging three stage selection process, we have been chosen by the District to represent not only Crawley, but West Sussex and the United Kingdom at the World Scout Jamboree in  August 2019, to be held in West Virginia, USA.

We are:

Ben Lyon (Sir Ranulph Fiennes Explorer Scout Unit, 7th Crawley and Ray Mears Young Leader Unit)

Kristofer Bolin-Schmitt (Neil Armstrong Explorer Scout Unit, 1st Northgate and Ray Mears Young Leader Unit)

Megan Elliott (4th Worth)

William Lingard (James Cook Explorer Scout Unit, 1st Balcombe and Ray Mears Young Leader Unit)

What are we doing?

The World Scout Jamboree is a four-yearly gathering of the global scouting movement, typically attended by tens of thousands of scouts aged between 14 to 17, from 165 countries. UK scouts and guides are currently preparing for their attendance at the 2019 Jamboree, forming friendships and preparing to act as global citizens; developing the skills and knowledge to positively affect not only scouting, but their local communities upon their return.

How are we doing it?

Part of this preparation is to raise funds to contribute not only to our own contingent’s attendance, but also to allow scouts from other less fortunate countries to attend. We are therefore seeking sponsors, donations and raffle prizes over the next 18 months to help us to achieve our £14,000 target.

How can you help us?

If you have been inspired by Ben, Kristofer, Megan and William and would like our support their challenge to raise £14000, visit our donations here. If you have a raffle prize to donate or just want to contact us please visit our contact us page here.
